意味の違いってご存知ですか?

 

非常によく似た単語なので、当然、意味も類似しているのですが、
実際の意味や使用方法にはそれなりの違いがあります。

その違いを調べてまとめてみました。

いまのところ、こう考えています。
radiationは単純に放射という意味で
irradiationは放射される対象物がある程度明確で
その対象物に向けて、光などを照射する場合に使用するのだと‥

irradiation ⇒ 照射(レーザー脱毛などに使用)

radiation ⇒ 放射(放射線治療などに使用)

学術的に使う場合には気になります、やぱり。

 

動詞のradiateは 放つ (例えば光を放つ)

動詞のirradiate は、光にさらされる 光を被る

 

これだけでなるほどといった感じですね。

放射と照射の言葉の意味について

放射とは輻射ともいう。電磁波を放出すること,または放出された電磁波や粒子線の総称。電磁波の場合には,波長によって,赤外線,可視光線,紫外線,X線,γ線などに分けられる。

一方、照射とは

1 日光などが照らすこと。「照射時間」
2 治療のために赤外線や放射線を当てること。ふつうX線・α(アルファ)線・γ(ガンマ)線などについていう。「X線を照射して胸部のレントゲン写真をとる」
